2️⃣0️⃣1️⃣9️⃣ Word of the Year: Intentional Verse: John 1:38-42
"Turning around, Jesus saw them following and asked, “What do you want?” They said, “Rabbi” (which means “Teacher”), “where are you staying?” “Come,” he replied, “and you will see.” So they went and saw where he was staying, and they spent that day with him...Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother, was one of the two who heard what John had said and who had followed Jesus. The first thing Andrew did was to find his brother Simon and tell him, “We have found the Messiah” (that is, the Christ). And he brought him to Jesus."
We spend a lot of time talking about Simon Peter, but for 2019, I set my word as Intentional. I set my goal to be Andrew- not Peter. Jesus said come, and he followed. When he had spent the day with Jesus, his first action was to bring others to the foot of Christ as well.
Intentional.
Some of you know, many do not, but with placement approval finally in order I suppose I should share. It is fitting that right at the start of the new year, I am also starting a new journey. I have been approved by AGWM to begin raising my funds for a 2 year term in the Jungles of Ecuador.
More than a year ago, when the idea was originally broached with me, I viewed it as an indefinite maybe. Honestly- I love what I do! Why would I want to give that up? But God has a funny way of taking your passions and building a life (full of unexpected twists and turns) around them.
I have always said I love two things: Missions and People. It is what drew me to Social Work so intensely even from the beginning. And now, I am beyond blessed that I will get to intentionally combine those two loves in one place under the wonderful leadership of Joil and Leah Marbut. It’s a long way off (with a lot of details to sort out and money to raise) but I feel such a sense of peace about this decision. Maybe it will only be for 2 years. Maybe it will turn into a lifetime. I have no clue, but I’m open to the journey... So, Sucua, here I come. 🇪🇨
